Culture of Jamaicans

The island of Jamaica is the largest English speaking country in the Caribbean and is situated south of Cuba. It is only Caribbean island in the Greater Antilles that is completely surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. This has allowed the country to have some of the tranquil beaches in the Caribbean. The north coast of the country is littered with lovely beaches and world-class hotels. Interestingly, this beautiful tropical paradise also has some of the friendliest people in the world. The culture of Jamaicans been friendly has impacted the global with the country’s unique music and famous personalities. With every generation the innovativeness of the Jamaican in music and culture make the world keep coming back for more. However, Jamaica like any other country has is challenges. This has allowed many visitors to choose the all-inclusive hotels and resorts types vacation packages to ensure their safety. But, coming to Jamaica without enjoying some of its nature beauty is only half of the vacation packages. The most western point in Jamaica has arguably the most spectacular sunset in the world.

A unique aspect of the Jamaican and their culture is the language spoken. Although, English is the primary language the Jamaican Patois or Creole is well accepted in many circle. One of must sample delights of the Jamaican are their patties. Having a Jamaican patty should be a must when visiting Jamaica.

In recent years sporting achievement has been a highlight of Jamaica accomplishments. However, academic excellent has been pursue by many with great deal of success. Another aspect of the cultural tradition of Jamaican is their religion. Jamaica is said to have the second largest number of churches per square miles in the world. The country is well known for its Rastafarian religion and the dread that is associated with the religion. However, are many protestant and traditional religious movements that are major component of Jamaica religious culture.

Jamaica has the distinction of the first English speaking Caribbean island to gain independence. The country has a rich tradition rooted in its different ethnic groups. These groups include the African, European, Jews, Germans, Indians and Chinese.
